My blogging is going to be very short and sweet this week. Why? Well, as my life would have it, I was making lunch after getting home from church and was already nearly done, when, slip… and my right thumb plunged inside of a tin can I was opening to make sauce. I could not believe it…and it was my right hand! I need it, need it for everything–to process images, to operate my camera, to type, to eat… you name it! At lunch I had to ask Demetrye to cut my meal for me since I could not do it myself. I felt so helpless! Yikes, and I have a wedding to shoot this Friday! Help!
So, meanwhile it takes me very long to type in this post–and I am hoping my hubby won’t find out… So, enjoy images, but without a huge story, which I already had prepared in my mind.
Irina is my new temp assistant that I recently blogged about and I was delighted to do her senior shoot, although she gave me a huge scare a couple of days before the shoot. I called her to make final arrangements as she excitedly told me that she… just got braces put on! Oh, no! I was speechless! But we made it work and quite fabulously.

Today I am adding the last installment from the recent “Day After” session. My gorgeous models are Nina and Carson–newlyweds (they are not actual models, you see, but look better than many “professional” models I have seen, especially because their love is genuine and not posed).
Here is the best of Longview Washington Wedding Photography.

Once in a while I get e-mails from people telling me how much they admire my work and asking to mentor them (I still can’t believe that!). I don’t, for the most part, have any free time, and albeit it I am very kindhearted (yes I am
) I just do not want to mentor anyone locally, for reasons that you might already imagine. However, I have nothing against having certain people tag along to my shoots with me, once in a while, to carry my bag or hand me my equipment—I actually discovered that I like it!
Well, as life would have it, I was contacted by a very special young lady, asking me to be her mentor for her Senior Project. What makes her so special? She is very close to me and is super-smart, super-responsible, and super-cute. I just love her to pieces. Of course I had to say “Yes!“.
To get her feet wet and give a taste of what real photography is all about I took her on one of my shoots, thus giving her an opportunity to change her mind and back out. ( took her to Tiffany and Greg’s Engagement Shoot.) She stuck through and her mind was made up that it was indeed something she wanted to explore for the next several months.
So, without further due meet the one and only, the lovely Irina—RA Long Senior and my temp assistant!

One of the Senior Project requirements is that the student must give some of his/her time to the community, hopefully in the field s/he researched. Irina and I had discussed how she could better serve the community, when she will be nearing the end of her project, and decided that she will donate her time doing a 30-45 minute shoot for a family that otherwise could not afford Custom Photography. She will do it under my supervision and later provide 10-15 digital files to the family. The files will be formatted so that they can be printed any time, any place. So, stay tuned in the months to come, as we will announce further details and open a nomination contest.
So, if you happen to schedule a photo shoot with me in the near future, don’t be surprised if I do not come alone.
