My husband and I are taking a vacation.  As we are relaxing now, we know that it is possible only by the grace of God and through life-sacrificing efforts of the men and women who enlisted to serve their country with their very lives.

I have several family members who have served in the military, navy and now one in the Reserves, Demetrye has two cousins that are Active Duty.  My father, who is no longer with us, had served and fought in WWII.  One of my grandfathers and one of my uncles have been killed in WWII.

I know that as a country we often fall short of showing our gratitude to those of you who put your lives on the line for us to keep our freedoms and to enjoy our lives, and for that I am sorry.

Thank you for your sacrifice!  Thank you and may God keep you safe, be it here, in the US, or overseas, or on an enemy’s soil.

Ever since I was a child I remember waking up to see my parents praying together, hearing them mention every single one of us in their prayers.  Although the years have passed, some things have not changed, for which I am grateful.  I still often catch my Mom reading her Bible, praying for us, or reading a book early in the morning.  It always gives me such a warm, comforting feeling, and for a split second I get transformed to my childhood, where all things were wonderful, all things were safe, because Mom and Dad always took care of us and gave us the best gift of all–their unconditional love.

Yesterday, after I indulged in a bit of extra sleep, I was exercising when I caught a glimpse of this.  I quietly snuck to grab my camera, cranked my ISO as high as I could, not to give away myself with a flash and stole this image.  My Mom has always been, and still is a big lover of plants.  If she could, I think she would live in a green house.  Her whole dresser is taken by various plants, planted in mismatched pots, but she adores every single one of them.

Mom is still the most amazing being I know, and I thank God every day that she is still with us.
