Today is my Mom’s birthday. She is 78 (although I am trying to convince her she is only 18. She seems to agree with me.) She is the most amazing and wonderful person in the entire world. She is my hero. I am yet to meet a person so full of love and compassion, wisdom and patients as my lovely Mom. There are not enough words in my vocabulary to describe how spectacular she is.

She lived through the depression, Communism, World War II. She was persecuted as a Christian, and, after my father was sent to Siberia into exile (simply for believing in Christ), she joined him there with my siblings. Then they lived through more hardship and trials, but in all that they had been through, both of my parents kept their humanity and their supernatural love, not only for each other, but for all of us 14 kids.

During Communism there were no privately owned businesses or opportunities for capitalism, yet my mother managed, by the grace of God, to start her own business, and through that, Mom and Dad had enough finances to raise us, so we never went hungry, and Mom was able to work from home.

Their life and the example of their faith is my daily beacon. It constantly reminds me that I am my mother’s daughter, and I can never give up, never give in, but press on in my life, no matter what it might bring.

Mom, Dad, thank you SO much for helping me to become who I am today. Without your love and your steadfast example I couldn’t have become even half the person that I am. Thank you for being constant, loving and encouraging. Thank you for letting me know that there are no limits in life. Thank you for pointing me to my Lord, Jesus.

My father went on to be with his and our Saviour last year. I am grateful that I still have Mom. I pray that I can keep her here forever. Selfish, I know, but I just can’t imagine my life without hearing her voice at least a couple of times a week. I can’t imagine not having her there when I need an advice or a prayer. I call her, at times, just to hear her voice, and to imagine that I am still a little girl, and I can safely curl up in her arms, and she will make all the evil of life go away. She just has the ability to do that.

I love you, Mom. I wish I were there, in Washington, with the rest of my siblings, celebrating one more year of your life.

Happy Birthday, Darling!

I am so excited that Blogger finally added a feature that allows to post Slideshows… Here is my first one from a recent wedding.

I just finished processing one of the weddings I recently shot. At the end, to celebrate, I played with textures on this image.

Yesterday was such a beautiful day. The weather was just perfect: warm, sunny day with a beautiful breeze. When I got to the park, where wedding was taking place, Jason (http://jthimagesolutions.com/) was already setting up. We had taken a few detail shots before the bride and bridesmaids arrived to get ready for the big day.
After they dressed, we headed to the park to take photos of the ladies, before the men arrived.
The whole bridal party looked gorgeous in their gowns, but my heart was stolen be the beautifully enchanting flower girl–Nikki’s daughter. She was so carefree, and nearly ethereal – she made me nostalgic after my childhood.
She looked on enchanted as she watched her mom pose for pictures. Bridesmaids did not waste their time, while waiting for their turn to take a photo with the bride, they snapped some shots of themselves :) And then it was time…

What wouldn’t I give just to be a child again…Nick and Nikki had disposable cameras at every table for their guests, and it looked like they created competition for Jason and I :) Another favorite of mine–little ring bearer–bride’s and groom’s son. He was like a little Energizer bunny–I did not see him stop for a moment. He especially seemed to enjoy getting his groove on.I did not notice the reflection of bride and groom in the glass door until I was processing this photo. For me it just added another dimension to the moment.
