Today my day was filled was with a bit heart-ache: my Mom, who lives in WA, was undergoing a knee replacement surgery, and I was not there by her side. I was not worried, because we have been praying for a successful surgery, and I knew that she was safe in awesome hands of our Jesus, however, I woke up this morning, counting hours, and then minutes, until the surgery. I waited for my phone to ring, hoping that one of my siblings would call me and let me know that all went well. By about 1 p.m. I was on pins and needles. Never mind the 3 hour time difference, I wanted to know then and there. So, I called up the hospital, only to find out that she was still in surgery. I waited for another long hour, and then one more… Finally, I called my sister at home. Luckily my brother-in-law answered and gave me her cell number. I dialed it, impatiently waiting for her to respond. The reception was horrible. I could only make out that I needed to call the hospital line again… at least this time I had a room number I could ask for.

I called, hoping to hear my Mom’s lovely voice. After asking my sister Luba a couple of questions, I got my wish-Mom was on the phone, talking to me. The effect of anaesthesia still had not worn off, and her speech was slightly slurred and slower than normal… but I heard her voice, which made my world warm and fuzzy again. Doctors said that the surgery was a success and she will be out of the hospital in about 3-4 days!
I hung up, much happier, and off I went to look for perfect flowers. My Mom loves flowers of any kind, and there is no better way to make her day, than to send her a bouquet. Roses are among her favorites. I used Proflowers’ services to surprise her before, so I decided to trust them again with such an important task. Their services are great, they really make sure to please their customers. Once I send my Mom flowers, and, by the time she got them, they were a bit wilted, so they send her another bouquet at no charge to me, right away. Service like that makes you want to come back… so I did.

So, I made a promise to myself yesterday, that I am going to do my best to keep: I will be better at blogging on regular basis… at least once a week to start with. To keep that promise I am adding a picture of my father-in-law, from our recent trip to New Jersey. He is in his mid-eighties and still full of energy. I absolutely was mesmerised by how agile he is.

Here is one more that I really like. Demetrye and his dad were having a conversation, when all of a sudden both of them fell silent for one split second. However, to me this picture speaks volumes: two generations, two different lives, age and youth… I am so glad that I had my camera handy.

I know that I had stayed away from blogging a bit too long, but there was so much going on in my life in the last couple of weeks that it was hard to make time to blog. So, all excuses aside, here is my photo of the day.

And I just recently found out that one of my brothers and his wife are expecting a baby boy, who is due in January (I am hoping that he will grace us with his presence on my birthday)!!! Here he is!!!

Demetrye and I had started a tradition three years ago: each year we take Holiday Pictures at about the same time of the year. I had free time last Monday, so I sweet-talked my sweetie to get out and take pictures for this year. Even though it was beginning of October, Ohio was experiencing super-warm weather – normally we wear jackets at this time of the year, this time it was so hot, we wore shirts. We spent less than an hour on our photo-session and got super awesome and fun pictures. At the end, when we were nearly done, I came up with a bright idea: grabbed a handful of leaves, yelled out to Demetrye to do the same (we were working with a 10 sec. timer) and we threw them up in the air as fast as we could… Here is the result. (I think I like this picture to place it as the blog-header for now.)
