We started playing at around 7 p.m. As you can see it was still light out.
It was not long before Garrett caught on to the game and down came his shades and the poker face…
Demetrye and Irina did not want to be left out and wanted to look as cool… (So, I was the only honest face in the house… but I did hide behind my camera a few times to steal away these shots.) Look at Demetrye holding his dominos as if they were cards…
Forget the poker face… Demetrye could not hold his excitement when he scored.
You can see how dark it is outside… We finished playing at…. yep, 10:30 p.m.!!! Crazy, but so much fun. And would you look at these three…
While playing, we got to hear a story about Garrett’s proposal to Irina. It is one of the coolest I had heard so far, and maybe one day I will be able to share it.
Garrett & Irina, we had a great time!!! Oh, and I forgot to tell you this: Team W. (that is Demetrye and I) WON!!!! Yes we did!!!

A couple of weeks ago we had Darlene, Eric (her husband) and their energetic 4-year old son over for dinner. Since I was so preoccupied with getting things done and keeping our guests comfortable, I did not get to take any photos. Yesterday, however, I did not miss my opportunity.
Darlene and Eric invited us over for dinner. They live out in the “country”, where you are not disturbed by the noise of cars going by, or neighbors moving their furniture every day
My favorite part of being so far away from the city was the quietness and serenity. Living life the way it is supposed to be without any bells or whistles…
Darlene made an amazing RAW foods dinner for us. It turned out that we share one more thing in common: we make up our recipes as we go along, without ever writing them down, or knwing exact proportions–we simply eyeball everything. Darlene’s son, Wyatt, was a huge helper. Here he is helping to make banana ice cream (for all of you non-vegans, it is simply frozen bananas put through a juicer).
I like the level of Wyatt’s concentration in this image…
What Demetrye and I absolutely loved about watching a little boy who is being raised as a vegan, since that is how we are going to be raising our kids, is that he ate his fruits and veggies with such an appetite and enthusiasm as if it were candy. Here he is munching on a frozen banana.
…this is our banana ice cream… it still makes my mouth water just looking at it.
After dinner Demetrye and Wyatt had a little bonding time…
Eric, Darlene and Wyatt, thank you for having us over. We are going to be asking you to invite us again soon, so we can sit by the fire and have more great conversations.
