Today we woke up to see our Mom off to the airport. She is flying out to see my brother in MN. It is amazing that she is nearly 80 and still as brave and independent as ever. We made sure that she had a non-stop flight to make it easy on her. But she is quite a trooper!

It was odd to leave for work today and not know that she is home or that she will be there when we get back, albeit that it is only for a few days. Mothers are wonderful, and ours is the best!

Oh, what a day we had yesterday! It started of with a walk-off between Demetrye’s friend, Brandon, and myself. We were competing to see who was going to make best time walking around a 3.6 mile lake. I am not going to boast too much, but will only say this–I beat him by 10 minutes. I walked the entire distance in 44 minutes! [No running or jogging was allowed]

So, here is to the sweet moment of victory, right after Brandon caught up with me. [I am grateful that my niece Anastacia came out and snapped these couple of photos with her iPhone.]

And with my “manager”, of course. I could not have done it without him bugging me for two days with: “You can do this!” “I believe in you!” “Now get out there and show me what you’ve got!”

I did try to explain to him, unsuccessfully, that I am a female and that things like that don’t really drive me or pump me up… but I finally had to give up and watch him psych himself into a crazy state :) [Love you, babe!]
I don’t want to forget to mention that the wager was for Brandon to go on a Vegan diet for 30 days (I did try to convince him), however, he absolutely could not imagine his life without beef, so we settled for 2.5 weeks with no fast food for him. I am loving it! What a way to get someone to commit to a better lifestyle, even it is for a short time.

Anyone out there wants to take up the challenge?

After the walk we went home and I made a three course meal (I know it makes no sense, especially since I won the competition…). We enjoyed food and each other’s company.

When I found out that Anastacia (my niece), and Courtney (my newly found daughter [she is not really my daughter, but I love her so]) had their guitars with them, I bugged them to bring them in and sing for us.

The music, the melody, the sweet presence of God filled our house. It was as if He was riding on the wings of their songs as if on the wings of a dove… I still cannot believe that both of them are self-taught…
Anastacia
Courtney…

I could barely fall asleep after their were gone. The songs kept replaying in my heart and mind over and over again. I think I might have gotten no more than 3 hours of sleep. I am pretty exhausted today. The competition left my body sore, and the music, although enlivened my spirit, left me with no sleep… I fell asleep passed 2 am and was up by 6… But I am not complaining. I hope that one day, when they record their own CD, I will be asked to shoot cover images.

Everyone, I wish you a beautiful Sunday!
