What a day it was yesterday! I got to photograph a wedding for two absolutely stunning people, and I mean stunning. Their love for each other radiates coming from the deepest recesses of their souls. It simply beams out of them, and I am not sure if anything could hold it back.
Kristina and Bob met on an airplane. It was a love at first flight
… sight, I mean. She knew he was the man for her… He became her “fellah” and she became his “my girl”.
I got to hear many wonderful stories about Bob over the last several months and only met him, for the first time, on their wedding day. Christina’s descriptions of Bob were always wonderful, but I found him to be so charming and charismatic that I felt like Christina kept a secret from me
. No wonder that all of her family and friends are crazy in love with him. Christina’s aunt must have felt the same way when she met Bob for the first time. She said that the day she met him she started to call him “my Bob”. That’s the kind of effect Bob has on people.
As I was photographing the day, I honestly felt like I was watching a fairy tale unfold through the viewfinder of my camera. Christina and Bob’s love for each other is so obvious and so genuine, I felt like I was staring at a bright sun all day long-it was warming and disarming all at the same time. I saw how they looked at each other, how they whispered and mouthed: “I love you!” back and forth the entire day, and how Christina could start crying and laughing looking at Bob all in the same moment.
I was so fortunate to have been their photographer for their amazing day, as they united their lives forever. Bob & Christina–THANK YOU!
Here are a few images from yesterday. The ceremony and reception took place at the gorgeous Villa at Little Cape Horn.
Christina has such a beautiful relationship with her father. Every time she called him “Daddy” my heart melted. It looks like she melts his heart like that also.
Bob & Christina, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your life. I am truly honored. My you have long and loving life together.

Right after we came home from vacation, the day after actually, I got a wonderful opportunity to shoot a wedding in Portland, OR, at The Nines, alongside Jacqelynn Brynn. I had a blast and have a ton on images to prove it. The couple, Smita and Ian, was gorgeous, the location was a photographers dream: lots of textures, lots of natural light. The only one thing that was more stunning than these, was Ian’s love for his bride. He is really head over hills for Smita… and rightfully so.
So, here they are (and, no, I was not discriminating against the groom, since there are not as many images of him, there are a lot more, but I can blog only so many
).
To the gorgeous couple: May your happiness never stop! Cheers!

No, seriously, we are! We like to be loved, we like to see the special twinkle in our clients’ eyes, especially when they view their OWN images, and we LOVE, LOVE, L-O-V-E to be praised! No kidding! There is nothing like it!
It is like when a puppy brings a stick to his master, although it is covered with drool, expecting to get a good rub behind his ears… and to find a little treat waiting for him.
You might think I am kidding, but I am not. I personally was never a person to look for praise… until I became a photographer. It got worse when I became good at what I do. In the beginning I used to torture my poor hubby: “Demertye, come, look at this image! What do you think?” [and don’t you dare to tell me you don’t like it if you want to live long!] When I finally realized that Demetrye will never care to discuss aperture, speed, ambient light, etc. with me, I had to start looking for that elsewhere (there are some things you just can’t find in a marriage
[totally joking, of course… or am I?
]).
I started to hang out at a couple of photography forums, met a couple of photogs in person, but it still was not the same as seeing that sparkle or a tear in the eye of my client that I eventually got to see and… became addicted to.
And so my downfall began! I need more praise, I need more love, I want more recognition, which will happen only when I get more clients, more followers, and more admirers. Sadly, I know I am not the only one. In fact today, on one of the forums I visit, there was a thread about this very subject. It is unthinkable for a photographer to do a session and not to hear the “Awwwws”, the “Ooooohhhhs”, and the “Wows!” [better yet "Wowzers"] in response. Then we want our clients to brag on us by leaving us comments on their own posts [and any other post we write (ahem!)]. We want them to tell of their friends and family how wonderful we are and that the world would not be the same beautiful place without us… [sigh] The comments are our treats, people! When we get a treat we get SO excited! Wow, it’s a job well done! Boy, it gets the drool going, the adrenaline pumping through our veins, and we are ready to do even more… to get more praise, to get more love.
And what happens when we don’t get that? When a client does not leave a comment on the blog, does not e-mail you, or sits motionless at the viewing session (at least I have not had one of those yet!)? Well, a puppy gets sad and a bit depressed. And no one likes sad, depressed puppies.
So, what is the moral of my story? I don’t think I know, or do I;)? You tell me. Make this puppy happy
!

I shot this wedding with the fabulous Jenica of Lemondrops Photography. The event took place at the Lewis River Golf Course in Woodland, WA. The couple and the venue were fabulous and the day was absolutely gorgeous. And, since my little hand is still injured, I am going to get straight to the wonderful photography from the day.
Ashley and Kyle decided to see each other before the ceremony, and by the look on their faces it was so worth it.
Ashley awaiting her cue to walk down the isle to meet her husband.
The ceremony and the reception were outside. The weather was gorgeous!
And a couple more of the happy gorgeous couple.
All the best to the newlyweds! It was a blast!
